“I need to YouTube this.” Strategic learning from instructional videos

Learning from instructional videos is a nearly everyday occurrence for learners of all ages, across both formal and informal environments. In addition to their popularity, videos can be a powerful medium to support learning; however, our ability to adequately learn from videos is largely reliant on how they are designed to support learning and how we self-regulate our learning while watching videos. Before searching for your next video to either use in a course that you are teaching or learn how to cook a new recipe, read our article in the Psychonomic Society for advice on searching for, incorporating, and learning from videos.
